Gundogan becomes Guardiola's first signing at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has the first piece of his Manchester City project. He has brought in the German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, who will join the club on a four-year deal for a fee in the region of 27 million euros.

SPORT revealed in February that Gundogan, once on Barcelona’s orbit, had communicated to the Catalan club that he had reached an agreement with Man City to join them this summer. The news, which was reported just 19 days after Guardiola’s move to City was announced, was denied by Dortmund, but as the months have passed it has become an open secret and now it’s been confirmed.

However, the 25-year-old joins the club injured and will miss Euro 2016 with his country and the start of the Premier League season after dislocating his knee cap in training.

He told City’s website: "When I learned of City's interest, my heart was set on coming. Things have moved very quickly."
