Guardiola: If there's one team that can comeback, it's Barcelona

The Man City boss thinks Barça can turn around a four goal deficit against PSG

“If there’s a team that can comeback, with their mentality, it’s Barcelona.” This was the message from Pep Guardiola after his former side suffered a painful defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Manchester City coach praised the Blaugrana, affirming that “they’re still the best team in the world” and expressing his support for Luis Enrique and the squad.

“They’ve dominated world football in the last 10 years,” Guardiola said. “It’s a surprise what happened in Paris, but anything can happen in football these days. It’s happened to me, too. There is a lot of competition and the rivals are really strong.”

On Luis Enrique, the Catalan coach said: “Because I know them — Luis and the players — the best advice I can give them is not to criticise themselves too much."

In a week which united Barça’s defeat with the rumours of Arsene Wenger leaving Arsenal, Guardiola affirmed that it’s difficult to escape the sensationalism in modern football.

“You lose one game and people forget everything you did in the past,” he said. “People need to remain calm and have patience and confidence in their teams to do their jobs in the best way possible.”

Guardiola’s City side play Huddersfield in the FA Cup this weekend, a team from England’s second division. Pep didn’t confirm if Claudio Bravo or Willy Caballero would start in goal but did say there will be rotations with the Champions League game against Monaco on Tuesday in mind.
