Le Dauphine Libere: Barça and Samuel Umtiti strike agreement

Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona, according to French newspaper ‘Le Dauphine Libere’. 

Umtiti, who is currently with the France squad at the European Championships, it’s reported, has agreed terms with Barça to join the club for the coming seasons. The deal was signed last Friday.

The 22-year-old, who was being chased by various European clubs, including Tottenham and Chelsea, is now waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement. 

The first step has been taken, though, given there’s supposedly now an agreement between player and club, and now it’s necessary for Barça to talk with Lyon to close the operation. 

French media suggested suggest the operation could end up costing the Catalan club as much as 30 million euros. 

Umtiti’s potential departure could also influence the future of another Lyon player, Alexandre Lacazette.
