Unai Emery is close to joining PSG
Unai Emery could become the new manager of Paris Saint Germain in the following hours. The Sevilla coach has been chosen by Nasser Al-Khelaifi after Diego Simeone, the original first choice, declined the chance to succeed Laurent Blanc.
Emery has has travelled to Paris to listen to the French club's offer and the deal could become official shortly. The Basque coach is under contract at Sevilla, so PSG would have to pay the two million euros buy-out clause in his deal.
The PSG board wants to provide a new impulse to a team that dominates French football but which continues to fall short in the Champions League. Emery, a three-time champion of the Europa League with Sevilla, is thought to be the ideal candidate to make a Champions League charge with the Paris club.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi could also join Emery at PSG, as the French club also seem willing to pay the five million euros stipulated in his own contract at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
