Simeone not happy at Godin and Griezmann Ballon d'Or snub
Diego Simeone is not impressed that Anton Griezmann and Diego Godin are not on the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or.
The coach says his nomination as coach of the year is down to his squad and that those two stars have been harshly done by.
Simeone explained: "Where I am at this point is down to the players, so any gratitude should be for the squad. Without them, the coaches cannot do what we want. It's all down to collective effort.
"That Godin and Griezmann aren’t on the list seems unfair, but that’s how the list has been created. Griezmann is having an extraordinary season and has reached a very high level.
"What can I say about Godin? I hope it encourages them to keep pushing themselves. The only way to change opinions is to keep improving."
