Nicolas Otamendi reiterates that he wants to leave Valencia as Man United lurk

Nicolas Otamendi has confirmed that he wants to leave Valencia this summer.

The central defender is currently taking part in the Copa America with Argentina, but has told ESPN that Valencia know what he wants.

Manchester United is Otamendi's expected destination.

“I’ve spoken with my agent and Valencia know what I want," he said.

"Therefore, every word my agent has said has obviously been with my permission and he has my full permission to talk to who he wants.

"I spoke to the [Valencia] president and my agent and they know my desires very well, but for now I’ve told my agent that my head is with Argentina and left him to it.

"I’m enjoying each day alongside [Angel] Di Maria, [Marcos] Rojo, [Carlos] Tevez, [Lionel] Messi and the other players who are leaders here.”

His agent, Eugenio Lopez, has already revealed this summer that his client wants to leave Mestalla, despite only signing for the club last summer.

"Nico wants to leave Valencia and will do everything possible to make it so," he told Cadena Ser in May.

"There are already several clubs who want him.

"Nicolas told [president] Amadeo Salvo to his face two months ago. It surprises me that they say Rufete [sporting director] knew nothing."

Otamendi's buy-out clause is 50 million euros, which is more than Man United are expected to pay.

Valencia are unlikely to come down from that price without a fight, though, so Otamendi could be facing a long summer.
