De Gea: It's a lie and it's false, I just want to train and do what I like to do

Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has denied any involvement in the sexual assault case brought against Ignacio Allende Fernandez, better known as Torbe.

A 2015 witness statement, which was released on Friday by eldiario.es, implicated De Gea and Athletic Club's Iker Muniain in the proceedings.

It's alleged the Manchester United stopper organised and paid for Muniain and another unnamed footballer to have a 'sex party' with two women

When one of the women refused to take part, Torbe forced her into the encounter with Muniain and the other unnamed football player.

Speaking from Spain's France base ahead of the start of the European Championships, De Gea said he was as shocked to hear the news as anyone.

"I'm the first to be surprised by the news, which I want to deny - it's a lie and it's false," he began.

"They can put what they what, it's all false. It's in the hands of my lawyers. I don't know where these things come from."

La Roja kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Czech Republic on Monday and the 25-year-old says he will remain with the squad, despite earlier reports he could head home.

He continued: "I have more enthusiasm than ever to continue with the national team.

"I'm still very relaxed. This won't affect me on a sporting level. I just want to train and do what I like to do. I just want the tournament to start and to play."

De Gea also explained how he found out about the news: "I was in my room. I was told and I phoned my family.

"Those who know me well, know that this is false; my family's mind is at ease. It's now in the hands of my lawyers."
