Gary Neville hits out after journalist implies fans are on his back

Gary Neville reacted angrily after a journalist questioned whether the fans wanted to keep him as Valencia manager.

The former Manchester United man's side went down 1-0 at home against Sporting Gijon in a match they dominated, leaving him without a win in La Liga since taking over.

However, Neville - correctly - believes Los Che supporters aren't calling for him to leave and hit back after the question.

"You're asking me about my position. The Valencia fans have a very fine way of telling you when about when your position [is in danger[, but you didn’t see that today. I find this question ridiculous," he replied.

"It's from you, don't put this on the fans. Please don’t sit there and put this on the fans, it’s a big mistake you’re making.

"You misrepresent what they’ve shown from the first minute to the last and your job as reporter - and I’ve been a reporter - is to represent fairly what happens and that doest represent what has happened among the 30,000 or 40,000 fans there today."
