Clubs could be fined for showing empty seats on TV

According to ABC, La Liga clubs may be fined from next season for allowing empty seats to be seen on television.

British broadcasters the BBC took up the story and wrote: "The Spanish league plans to fine clubs that allow empty seats to be shown on television next season. New regulations require top-tier clubs to fill sections of the stadium which are shown by certain camera angles.

"The move is part of efforts to improve the league's product for TV audiences and increase its competitiveness with England's Premier League."

La Liga are trying to copy the Premier League's lead by getting big money TV deals and believe that stadium image will help build up the league's reputation.

Fines could be around 5,000-6,000 euros per game, according to ABC.
