There will be a press conference on Friday to discuss his departure from the Sanchez Pizjuan

Oscar Arias is the prime candidate to replace him as Sevilla's director of football

Sevilla announced Thursday that sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, known as Monchi, will be leaving the club.

There is a press conference scheduled for Friday where more details will come to light about his departure, including from which date it is effective.

Monchi is known for having a talent for signing players who go on to improve at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with many of them sold for huge figures—one of his biggest success stories was Dani Alves, who joined Barcelona.

He will speak alongside the president Jose Castro about his decision at 12.30 pm CET on Friday, including if he is set to join Roma, who have been strongly linked to his signature.

Technical secretary Oscar Arias is likely to take his role. He was recommended by Monchi for his current job, replacing Victor Orta in 2013.
