Raiola reveals reasons why Paul Pogba rejected Real Madrid

Mino Raiola has stated why Paul Pogba chose to move back to Manchester United over signing for Real Madrid this summer.

The controversial agent told Telefoot that Real tried to acquire the 23-year-old but the efforts of Zinedine Zidane were futile.

"As for Real Madrid, Zidane wanted [Pogba] beside him," Raiola said. "Zizou was a great player and Real Madrid is a big club, but, for me, Manchester United is stronger with Pogba. Real Madrid would not be.

"[Paul] told me clearly what he wanted - Manchester has always been his home."

Raiola also recalls the interest of Jose Mourinho during his last spell with Chelsea, admitting that the United coach's interest in Pogba was nothing new.

"Last year, Jose tried to sign him for Chelsea, but the time wasn't right for Paul to leave Juventus."

In the end, the Red Devils spent 120 million euros to finalise Pogba's signing in what is now the most expensive transfer in history.
