Mauro Icardi: I can't promise to stay at Inter Milan for life

Mauro Icardi, Inter's Argentine forward who just signed a new contract, wants to stay but can't promise

Inter Milan's Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, who renewed his contract on Friday until 2021, said that he cannot promise that he will stay at the club for life.

The forward and current captain said: "I can't promise that I will stay for life at Inter, in football you never know. But my desire is to do it, like Zanetti did at Inter, Totti at Roma and Maldini at Milan," he told Sky Sport. 

"The people will always laud you for this and I woudl like to do it."

Icardi signed a contract of five years for 4.5m a season plus one in variables, and highlighted they had agreed terms in the summer. 

"It was a topic we had spoken about with the club and agreed in August, so I was calm," he added.
