"I'm tired of comparing Messi and Cristiano, it's not healthy"

Thiago Alcantara says he’s fed up of the comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. 

Footballers are often asked to rate the two and the Bayern Munich midfielder has said what a lot of professional players think: enough it enough.

“Leo is one of the greatest in the history of football,” he began. 

“But I’m tired of comparing Messi and Cristiano. It’s not healthy for football. Cristiano Ronaldo’s an animal, too.”

Thiago left Barça, where he played alongside Messi, for Bayern Munich. 

He insists it was the right decision and while not ruling out a Camp Nou return, he says he’s happy in Germany.  

He explained: “I don’t regret leaving Barcelona. Football is global, it doesn’t end at Barça. 

“It was great to form part of their academy and the first team and if one day I have to take the decision to return, I will take it. 

“But I’m really happy at Bayern and I haven’t planned to leave.”
