Deportivo set to sign former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel on a free

Deportivo La Coruna have announced the signing of Dutch forward Ryan Babel pending a medical.

Babel, who in December will turn 30, is due to land in Spain on Wednesday night ahead of a medical, which he will undergo in A Coruna on Thursday morning. 

Depor revealed on their website that the deal is done as long as there are no problems with the medical. 

The La Liga side have turned to the market after losing new signing Joselu to injury at the weekend. 

With the transfer window shut, they were only able to move for players available on a free transfer. 

Babel, who's 1.85m, has been without a club since his spell with Al-Ain in the UAE ended recently. 

He has previously played for Ajax, Liverpool, Hoffenheim and Kasimpasa.
