The Asociación del Fútbol Argentino responds to Messi's criticism after flight delay
Lionel Messi has been at the centre of controversy for Argentina after lamenting the team's travel arrangements at the Copa America 2016.
Argentina have endured several setbacks while making their way across the United States, with the latest coming en route to New Jersey for the final against Chile on Sunday.
The flight on Thursday was delayed by more than four hours and the Argentine talisman blamed the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) for the mishap on his Instagram account.
A statement was then issued in response to Messi's comments, reading: "The Asociación del Fútbol Argentino was informed that the flight carrying the team to New Jersey suffered a delay in departure due to weather conditions.
"Also, the AFA doesn't know all the schedules of the transfers as they are designated by the organisers of the Copa America."
