Maradona's controversial Whatsapp audio message

Diego Armando Maradona has again caused controversy.

Absent in the commemoration that the Argentine parliament celebrated for the 30th anniversary of the World Cup win of 1986, Maradona posted a message in the Whatsapp group that the group of players have between them.

In the voice message to his former teammates, which lasts just under two minutes, Diego makes a thinly-veiled criticism of the current Argentina squad.

The transcript of the message is displayed here, in which Maradona calls himself "your captain".

"Lads, lads, Diego Maradona is talking...your captain. And I believe that what Burruchaga is saying is what we should be do. Shut our mouths because they have never had us in mind.

I had to be national team coach for them to give me a place. But everyone else... remember Cucciufo (who passed away in 2004)... if Kun Aguero even knows where he was from. Or where Pumpido played.

Lads, what 'Burru' said is the most sensible thing I have heard up to now. And if there is a division, we say there is, and the captain backs it up. For the respect of all, lads. For our respect.

Because do you know why? We, with every moment that passes, are greater. Because we went and we played our balls off in the Azteca stadium.

We didn't go and play against Chile. We went and beat (West) Germany. Do you understand the difference I'm telling you between one team and the other? A hug for all... Your captain."
