Maradona: If Koulibaly was white he'd be playing for Madrid or Barça

Diego Maradona has lamented the fact that racism still exists in football and used Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as an example.

“If Koulibaly was white he would be playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona,” the Argentine said in an interview with Piuenne TV.

“Racism still exists in football. The white players are always favoured over black players - and that is a disgrace.”

The former Napoli player also made controversial comments about Juventus, who in his opinion are favoured by referees, and Italian coach Antonio Conte, who will take over at Chelsea next season.

“Juventus have phenomenal players, but also the Italian referees! It’s nothing new, when there are doubts the Juve players are always right,” he added.

“[Napoli president] De Laurentiis ought to make himself respected, the way other Napoli directors did in the past. Fiorentina’s disallowed goal yesterday was scandalous…”

On Conte he said: “The coach of the Italian national team signs for Chelsea! That seems shameful to me.”
