Bartra will leave Barcelona and sign for Borussia Dortmund

Marc Bartra will leave Barcelona in the coming hours. After several weeks of uncertainty, the defender, who came through La Masia, has decided to leave the club.

Bartra has decided to make use of the clause in his contract - which came into effect due to the amount of games he played this season - which allows him to leave Barça for eight million euros. He will sign for Borussia Dortmund.

The central defender is currently undergoing a medical in Germany, where, as long as everything goes well, he will sign a contract with the Bundesliga runners-up. The terms of the agreement are still not agreed, but he is likely to sign a five-year deal.

Bartra was with with the Spanish national team as they prepare for this months European Championships, but he has been allowed a break to formalise his signing for Dortmund.

The 25-year-old will leave Barcelona after seven years in the first team, during which he has been unable to make himself a regular fixture. To date, he has played 108 official games for the club.

An offer of a renewal had been put on the table by Barça, with the option to then move on loan for two seasons, but Bartra and his representative, Carles Puyol, considered it best to make a permanent transfer away from the club.
