Why is Luis Enrique set to race along the beach?

Not only is Luis Enrique the new manager of Barcelona but he's also a man who dedicates a large part of his life to playing sport and hours of his time to supporting others.

With the birthday of the race called Aurun Sunset Beach incoming, this year celebrating its third edition, the Asturian saw the opportunity to take part. 

Being the honorary president of the EOS project, an NGO dedicated to helping children at risk of social exclusion, Enrique is the face of this race which will be held on July 26. The race has a few peculiarities. 

It is divided in three distances, 10, 20 and 40 kilometres, and participants run along the sand of the beaches by Castelldefels. 

Another feature is that the revenue through registrations is directed straight to EOS so the race is 100% for charity. 

It starts at 6pm so participants can enjoy the sunset by the sea as they run down the beautiful beach. 

The runners who are going for the marathon distance will reach the finishing line at night, which will make the race even more special. 

Enrique recognises that the race will be similar to desert runs, like the Marathon des Sables. 

The Barca coach is passionate about this kind of race, like Ironman runs and long mountain bike trails.

He considers this race quite hard because running across soft sand provides difficulty. 

If nothing in his schedule prevents him, Luis Enrique will be on the starting line with everyone else.
