Valencia want to sign Halilovic - but Barça want a buy back clause

Valencia are ready to make a big play to land Barcelona’s Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic, who is currently on loan at Sporting Gijon.

Los Che don’t want to loan Halilovic. They are looking to sign him. For that reason, they have already began talks with Barça to see find out what the situation is.

Initial contact has been made, but Barça have already made it clear that whatever deal Valencia lay on the table, they want to maintain a buy back option on the talented midfielder.

Valencia’s sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitch, who is in charge of the talks, has already met with his equivalent at Barça, Robert Fernandez, who he has a good relationship with.

However, it should be pointed out that during his recent visit to Camp Nou with Sporting, Halilovic made it clear that he would prefer to be back at Barça next season, rather than loaned out again or sold.

He wants to be a success at the Catalan club and he and his agent have always made that clear - it’s why he chose to join the club in 2014.

SPORT first reported Valencia's interest in Halilovic in March.
