Barcelona close deal to bring Denis Suarez back from Villarreal

Denis Suarez will be Barcelona's first signing of the summer. Barça and Villarreal sealed the final details of the deal on Tuesday for the return of the attacking midfielder, who will travel to Barcelona to complete the transfer after the Copa del Rey final - unless he receives a surprise call up to Spain's European Championship squad.

The two clubs discussed the payment which Barça must make and the player's contract, which will include a clause which will see Villarreal compensated if he is sold within two seasons.

The Villarreal player was asked for by Barça's coaching staff and his return was decided several months ago due to his sensational form for the Yellow Submarine. The club's sporting director Robert Fernandez used him as an example for the other players Barça have on loan and buy-back options around Europe at different clubs. They wanted to bring him back in January, but it was not possible as Villarreal would not let him leave.

There was little left to be discussed between the clubs. Barça officially communicated on Tuesday that they will pay the 3.25 million euro clause which allows them to bring him back to Camp Nou. If he's sold during his first season back at Barça, Villarreal will receive 50 percent of the sale. If he's sold the season after, it drops to 25 percent. Denis is hugely excited to return to Barça.

During the talks between the clubs, there was no mention of any other players. Not the forward Bakambu, nor the defenders Eric Bailly or Musacchio. For now, only Denis Suarez will arrive from Villarrea.
