Sergi Roberto's fine form will soon be rewarded with a pay rise

Sergi Roberto's fine form this season will end with a prize. The player is completing the objectives written into his contract and will move past the stipulated minutes which will see his deal automatically renew. In concrete, the La Masia product will play more than 70 percent of official minutes this season and will have a wage rise, which will also see his release clause rise to 30 or 40 million euros. Barça will have him tied down. 

The midfielder renewed in 2014, penning terms at Camp Nou until 2019. His agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, negotiated a deal with Barça which left all the parties happy. The canterano would have a first team wage, but he would also be guaranteed more money as his performances improved. And this season he has satisfied those expectations. The increase and bonuses he has will earn this season will be added to his annual salary. 

This season has gone even better than the player himself may have expected. He has already played 2,415 minutes and a lot of them have been in important matches. It is for that reason Barça understand his contract at the moment is perhaps not sufficient. The versatile player is one of the lowest paid players in the squad and the increase will serve to balance that out. 

But Sergi Roberto's performances and his versatility have not gone unnoticed elsewhere and Barça will also take advantage of this wage rise to increase his release clause. Roberto is grateful to the club for the opportunity they have given him to succeed and he feels comfortable where he is. He knows that Luis Enrique and the club have confidence in him.
