"Problems with Alves? Double with Cuadrado"
Former Colombia manager Pacho Maturana has told Esports Cope that if Barcelona "have problems with [Dani] Alves, then they will have double the problems with [Juan] Cuadrado."
Maturana, who managed Los Cafeteros in the 1990s, was referring to defensive frailties the Fiorentina player possesses.
"Cuadrado is not a defensive player, his natural instinct is to create chances and not to defend," he said.
However he was glowing when talking about the player's attacking qualities.
"He's a footballer who has found his place among the elite in Italian football," the 65-year-old continued.
"Last season he was good in Serie A. If you want a creative player that can make great chances for those around him then you've got him.
"But from a defensive point of view, in a team with Neymar, [Lionel] Messi, Pedro, [Luis] Suarez... the need is not always to attack, but to offer defensive security.
"And if Barca have problems with Alves, with Cuadrado they'll have double."
