Messi tops list of best-selling football shirts in 2015 ahead of Ronaldo & Neymar

Lionel Messi’s shirt was the most sold in the world in 2015, according to study by World Soccer Shop.

Given Barcelona’s success - they won five trophies across the calendar year - and the performances of Messi, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he topped the rankings.

Wherever you go, from South America to Asia, Europe to Africa, the Barça and Argentina star’s name is branded across people’s backs.

As was the case with the Ballon d’Or, coincidentally, he was followed in second and third by Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barça team-mate Neymar respectively.

No other La Liga players featured in the top 10, though, despite completing the podium.

Eden Hazard of Chelsea was the fourth most sold shirt, while former Blaugrana forward Alexis Sanchez, who now plays in the Premier League for Arsenal, was fifth.

Here is the full top 10:

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

3. Neymar Jr. (Barcelona)

4. Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

5. Alexis Sánchez (Arsenal)

6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG)

7. Steven Gerrard (Galaxy de Los Angeles)

8. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

9. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

10. Mesut Özil (Arsenal)
