Marquinhos won't move to Barça on loan

Marquinhos has rejected the idea of any operation which would see him move on loan to Barcelona. If the central defender is to leave Paris Saint-Germain, he wants that to be the end of it - a loan would still leave questions to be asked over his future.

He wants any potential departure from the French champions to be seen as a step forward, as has been said by his agent, Giuliano Bertolucci. Marquinhos' determination for this to be the case closes the door on a loan deal, even if that deal included an option to buy.

After earning an impressive reputation during his spell with Roma, the Brazilian views a loan move as a step back in his career.

With this new information, the chances of the player signing for Barcelona remain as complicated as ever. PSG's manager, Laurent Blanc, handed Marquinhos 90 minutes in the recent French Super Cup, which they won against Guingamp with two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, his starting spot was only down to the absence of the two central defenders who will play for the French champions next season: David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

As of today, negotiations will only progress once the two clubs open up a direct dialogue with each other, something which seems quite far away at the moment. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG's president, even considers the matter closed.

For his part, Marquinhos will not force a move. He would like both clubs to reach an agreement. If that doesn't happen, he will continue in the French capital.

At the moment, the 20-year-old seems a long way from Camp Nou.
