Luis Enrique: I want Pedro to stay at Barcelona, but I will respect his decision

FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique gave his first press conference of the season on Tuesday after a deserved break. The manager of the club's second treble success is looking forward to the challenge of his second season in charge.

However, despite elections due this weekend, Luis Enrique tried to avoid provoking controversy: "It does not annoy me that my name has been used in these elections," he said, refusing to rise to the bait.

Luis Enrique, though, didn't avoid the questions about Arda Turan and Pedro. "I have to congratulate the management board for the signing of Arda Turan," he added, before answering questions about Pedro potentially moving to Chelsea.

"I don't want any player to leave the squad. That is the case with Pedro. My wish is that Pedro stays, but there are circumstances in his contract and I will respect his opinion [if he wants to leave].

"I never cheat my players and they know that I am not going to promise minutes to anyone. I hope Pedro stays, though, as has been the case with Marc Bartra."
