Lionel Messi: "Ter Stegen can be the world's best goalkeeper"

Lionel Messi says Marc-Andre ter Stegen could be the best goalkeeper in the world within a few years.

The young stopper has impressed since signing for Barcelona last summer, despite only playing in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

And with Bayern Munich in town for  semi-final, there is a lot of interest in how the 23-year-old will fare against his German counterparts.

Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer was in the running for the Ballon d'Or this year, but Messi suggested Ter Stegen could overtake him in the future.

"Ter Stegen surprised me a lot from the first day," Messi said .

"I didn't know him well before he signed, but he has been impressive and he could be the best in the world in a few years."

It was an opinion which Luis Enrique backed up when he suggested later in the day that "Barcelona have the best keepers in the world," in reference to both Claudio Bravo and Ter Stegen.
