Laporta presents written recourse against Neymar pact

Joan Laporta and nine other FC Barcelona members presented a written document on Tuesday, June 21, to halt the agreement reached between the Catalan club and the tax authorities in the 'Neymar case'. The document was presented to the Barcelona courts.

Laporta, according to SPORT collaborator Xavi Torres, "bases his document around the possible vulneration of the articles 27, 28 and 31 of the penal code and, according to him, the slanted interpretation of the recent article 31 of the penal code and the new doctrine of penal responsibility of legal persons."

He adds that the ex-president of Barça thinks that a legal person can only be convicted when the investigation is not able to determine with clarity those physical persons that have committed the crime. And he believes this is not true of this case as there are two presidents that have been perfectly identified, and also other board members under Rosell that also signed the investigated contracts. According to the document, it would be "the first time" in history that a case of these characteristics be resolved in this manner.

The former president Laporta presented the document along with nine other members, all of which formed part of his candidacy in the last club elections. They are Miquel Camps, Jordi Casals, Marc Ciria, Mireia Fontanet, Maria Elena Fort, Josep Ignasi Macia, Rafael Martin, Xavier Puig and Rafael Yuste.

In the event that the judge does not concur with the points made in the document, Laporta would have right of appeal, which could precautionally pause the agreement from being official until the definitive resolution of the case.

Laporta already made his feelings about the pact known on the day it was announced, when he said "the deal was signed to save themselves", referring to Bartomeu and Rosell.
