Keisuke Honda could have signed for Barcelona this summer

The player had a meeting with the club but they decided they did not want him, despite being low-cost

His transfer to Barcelona was never close to coming about, but Keisuke Honda had a meeting with the Catalan giants. The Japanese midfielder, while at AC Milan, wanted to move to the Champ Nou. Barcelona were skeptical, they met the player’s people and told them “no thanks”.

Things aren’t going well for Honda in Italy. After the player moved to Milan from CSKA Moscow he failed to live up to his best standards, and this season hasn’t featured much at all. He was looking for an exit this summer.

Milan’s position was that they would allow a move. Because he earns 2.5m euros a year, a high figure for the performances he was offering, they would let him leave. The low cost of the deal was something for Barcelona to consider, but for sporting reasons they decided they did not see him as someone to bring in.
