Iniesta: It was one of those games where nothing come off

Andres Iniesta, who came on in the second half of Barcelona’s loss to Alaves on Saturday, admitted that Luis Enrique’s side didn’t hit their normal levels.

“It was one of those games where nothing come off,” he said after the game.

“Alaves took the lead on a rare attack and we weren’t able to break down their defence.

“We didn’t do things well and we’ve paid with a defeat and the loss of three important points.”

However, he didn’t want to set off any alarms: “You have to be patient. Of course this has been a bad performance, but now it’s about analysing the causes and correcting the errors.

“We’re at the beginning of the season and there’s a long way to go.

“Alaves played really well, their effort was enormous from the first moment and they’ve been compensated for that. You have to congratulate them for a great game.”

With the Champions League beginning on Tuesday, he added: “Each game has it’s own story. We have to analyse why today occurred, but against Celtic it will be different.

“The defeat to Alaves shouldn’t affect us.”
