Gerard Pique's father on what his son has said: "Chapeau"

"Chapeau, to what he has said," explained Pique's dad, in a show of support for his son

Gerard Pique's father has supported his son. He spoke after the presentation of Johan Cruyff's autobiography at the Auditori 1899. Joan Pique was impressed by his son's words after the defender said he would retire from the Spanish national team after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"Chapeau, to what he has said," explained Pique's dad. He said it on the way out of the Auditori, although he did not want to expand any further.

Pique said he had no more enthiusiasm to link up with Spain because of all the criticism he has received for his behaviour - usually unfairly. This time it was for cutting the sleeves off on his shirt, which people claimed he did to get rid of the Spanish colours, but the long-sleeved shirt doesn't have any colours at the end of their sleeves - he did it for comfort.
