Dani Alves' agent confirms the right-back has rejected Barça's contract offer

A few more chapters have been added to the Dani Alves story on Thursday afternoon. After the meeting between his agent, Dinorah Santana, and the club on Wednesday, Dinorah held a press conference on Thursday.

She said the objective was to "avoid people saying Dani Alves is a money-grabber" and revealed the details of what was offered to the Brazilian by Barça.

Before that, though, she took the chance to remind everyone just how successfull Alves has been at the club: four Ligas, two Champions Leagues, two Copa del Reys, second most games at the club by a non-Spaniard...

Dinorah said that conversations started after the Clasico in March when Javier Bordas got in touch.

"Barça offered up three years in a format of one year, plus one, plus one. And we said no," she explained.

"We wanted three years but they said no. Then we suggested two, plus one with the condition that he would get the final year if he played 70 percent of games in the second season.

"They said no, again.

"This morning I received a an offer by email. Barça said three years if the player plays at least 60 percent each season, if he doesn't, it won't continue year-on-year.

"That for me is not three years. It is one year.

Dinorah Santana added that "negotiations have now been closed" and made it clear that Luis Enrique does want the player to offered an acceptable deal.

Despite all this, she still has hope: "If they offer us two years, plus an optional third, Dani would stay.

"But he is more out than in at the moment because I don't think they will change their offer."

She also said that the right-back is "sad" about the situation. "He is sad because he thought that we would reach an agreement."

There is an offer of three years on the table from two other European clubs, although they weren't named. Paris Saint-Germain, Dinorah confirmed, though, are not one of them.
