Could David Villa go back to Barcelona on loan?

David Villa could return to Spanish football on loan in the coming months. New York City not reaching the MLS play-offs is the perfect platform for the hypothtical return of El Guaje. He could compete in Spain until March before returning to the United States.

Villa said he has more than one offer on the table. "Now they are calling me from all sides, from when we mathematically couldn't be in the play-offs, they have called me although it doesn't mean that I will back on loan, hypothetically," he said on El MUrcielago on Levante TV.

Option for Barcelona?

In this scenario, various media sources like El Economista have put forward Barcelona as a possible candidate to go on loan to Barcelona for the first three months of 2016, from when their FIFA sanction expires. The loan of Villa would barely cost them anything, which would be useful given their salary limit.

However, if Barcelona do want Villa, the Asturian knows he would arrive at a team with three excellent forwards and little option to get regular minutes, which would surely rule him out of Vicente del Bosque's Euro 2016 plans. In the MLS he has 17 goals in 28 games.
