Burgui on Pique: He leaves a lot to be desired as a person

Espanyol player Burgui, in a report on television station Cuatro, has hit out at Gerard Pique, saying “he leaves a lot to be desired as a person.”

There was no particular nastiness in the way he said the words, bit it’s created controversy ahead of the Catalan derby. In addition, he also spoke about Dani Alves, albeit more favourably.

Burg is young and honest, though, and doesn’t have a mean side. The report overall showed a much nicer side to the player, who is on loan from Real Madrid.

Asked about Alves, he said: “I’d go out for a drink with him. He’s always joking, like me - I think we’d get on well.”

He didn’t say the same about Pique: “I wouldn’t go out with him. He’s a good footballer, but he leaves a lot to be desired as a person.”

Burgui also said he prefers the BBC to the MSN, although he did praise Messi’s left-foot, Neymar’s ability one-on-one and Luis Suarez’s class.
