Barcelona will make a decision on Monday regarding signing Atletico's Arda Turan

The professional future of Turkish midfielder Arda Turan could be decided on Monday. With contact between the player and FC Barcelona advanced, the interim management board of the Catalan club must decide in the coming hours if they will close the deal with the Atletico Madrid man. If not, they will defer the decision until after the elections, which runs the danger of the player getting away, signing for another club.

At around 17.00h (CET) the interim management board will meet at the club's offices to decide which of the two options they will take. On one hand, they can close the deal which has been worked on and which Josep Maria Bartomeu has asked them to complete; on the other hand, they wait until the elections, as Joan Laporta, Agusti Benedito and Toni Freixa have requested.

There are 10 members of the interim management board who will vote on whether to sign Arda Turan, a signing which Barça boss Luis Enrique has personally asked for. If they wait, it will presumably be because they feel the economics of the operation are too high for them to be able to offer an opinion on in their temporary roles.

As for Arda, the player's entourage are also putting pressure on Barça and the interim management board, which is led by Ramon Adell, to give the go ahead to the transfer. If they don't, it would open the door to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who have both made offers for the 28-year-old.
