Barcelona homing in on Luis Suarez signing

After the meeting between representatives from Barcelona and Liverpool in London this week about the transfer of Luis Suarez, a solution seems closer after both sides claimed the talks had been "very productive".

In principle, there is set to be another meeting next week, although in England, according to 'Sky Sports', they are suggesting the transfer could be confirmed this weekend.

The English club already know that the Uruguayan international's desicion to leave is not reversible, while Barca and Luis Enrique have made the signing of Suarez a priority.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has already made moves on various transfer targets as Liverpool get set to chase their first Premier League title since 1990.

Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana's arrivals are just the start, and Liverpool will spend the majority of the money they receive from the sale of Suarez investing in their squad.

HEAVYWEIGHTS

That Barcelona sent three of their top brass to negotiate with Liverpool, because of the urgency to get the move sealed quickly, was decisive. Vice president Jordi Mestre, general director Antoni Rossich and director of football Raul Senllehi laid the foundations at the meeting with represenatives from the Anfield club.

And both parties will meet again next week to finally close the signing.

Liverpool, led by executive director Ian Ayre, are unwilling to meet in Barcelona in an attempt to maintain a strong position.

"The negotiations were productive, with developments," Ayre explained to the British press. "Although there is still no agreement."

However, all that really matters is the economic side of the deal.

Liverpool have named a price of around €85million, although they may be willing to drop to around €75million - Barca are working with the belief they won't have to pay as much as that.

THE BAN

The Catalan club consider the player's four month ban, for biting Giorgio Chiellini, as a major detriment to them, and it is for that reason they want the price reduced.

Thinking differently, Liverpool, debatably, insist it shouldn't affect the operation.

With an agreement with the player already finalised, Barca continue with the task, convinced they will succeed, of trying to lower the final amount. Liverpool refuse to include a player in the deal, only wanting money.

PAYMENT

In this sense, there has also emerged a discrepency regarding the payment. Liverpool are working hard to ensure the first payment is soon and a lot, as it will be given to Rodgers to strengthen his squad.

Barca do not want exceptions, and insist on paying the same amount in every installment.

Talks are advanced now and all three parts of the transfer know that Suarez will be a Blaugrana player soon. Therefore, next week everything should be confirmed.
