Barça's loan condition for Halilovic is complicating things

Barcelona have spent time looking to loan out Alen Halilovic to a top-level team so he can continue developing. The Croatian central midfielder has to come into the first team due to his contract, but Luis Enrique doesn't want to rely on him and is therefore looking for the best exit available.

After the failure of loan deals for Bojan (to Roma and Ajax), Deulofeu (to Everton and Sevilla) and Denis (also to Sevilla), the Blaugrana want to make sure that Halilovic plays 60% of the season.

It is a condition that is making a loan deal difficult, and at the moment no team have acceptd it, with Hamburg making it official that they had rejected the chance due to this reason. The truth is that it is tough for a manager to accept that a player will play 60% of the season by decree. Minutes have to be won in training sessions and this clause could cause a bad atmosphere in the dressing room if some players are seen to have priviledges.

On Barça's part, it is understandable that they are using the amount of minutes as a criteria. Luis Enrique knows that Halilovic has great potential, and will only be able to show it with competitive minutes.

After the rejection from Hamburg, the next best-placed team to secure the loan deal for Halilovic looks to be Borussia Dortmund. Barça prefer loaning the player to a Liga BBVA side, with Celta Vigo and Sporting Gijon the best places. In the coming days we will know the destiny of the Croatian.
