Barça sporting director Robert Fernandez talks about Aleix Vidal's situation

He says the right-back does still have a future at the club despite his continued ostracism from the squad

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has commented on the Aleix Vidal situation after the right-back was left out of the squad by Luis Enrique for the seventh consecutive match for Saturday’s home game against Deportivo La Coruna. The Barça boss couldn’t even find room for Vidal with Sergi Roberto out injured.

Robert, in quotes to beIN Sports, insisted that the Vidal case, despite the player clearly not being in his coach’s plans at the moment, does have a solution. His words were similar to those expressed by Luis Enrique in his press conference on Friday

“The manager made it clear that there’s enough time for the situation to change. He’s a player that both myself and the manager had to speak about in the summer with all the rumours that we were going to sign a right-back. And we said no, that we have confidence in Sergi Roberto and in Aleix Vidal. And we still think the same. Vidal is a player who can add things to the team and we hope that happens,” Robert said ahead of the Depor game.

Pressed on Vidal's absence for the seventh game running, Robert said: “Who do you take out of the squad? There are good players on the list.”
