Barça to shut out the media and won't give interviews to non-official outlets

The Catalan club have taken a decision which not all of the board of directors were in favour of

FC Barcelona will apply a new communications policy from today onwards which will impede other media outlets accessing interviews and content for their own production in football and the rest of the club’s professional sections (handball, futbol sala, basketball, hockey etc).

With this decision, FC Barcelona and the communication department, which is headed by Albert Roura, hope to maximise each and everyone of their own official channels -- club magazine, official website, social media, Barça TV -- in which they will offer exclusive content and information.

This decision has caused a major disagreement among the board as an important number of the club’s directors were against taking such action.

It’s worth remembering that in terms of football, and especially with the first team, the access to the players and the staff has been progressively decreasing since the decision to limit access to training sessions. Further decisions have since seen the press prohibited from travelling with the team, too.
