Arsenal want to tie down Bellerin amid Barcelona's interest in right-back

The Gunners hope to knock back Barcelona's interest by offering the defender a new five-year deal

Arsenal want to tie down Hector Bellerin to a new contract as soon as possible. According to the Daily Mirror, the rush is born from Barcelona’s interest in the right-abck.

SPORT revealed recently that the club want to hand the Catalan a new deal, while they’re also negotiating new terms with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The interest from Barça, who have made Bellerin their top target for next summer, has accelerated the Gunners' desire to hand him a new deal.

Bellerin’s current terms expire in 2019 and, according to the English press, the offer on the table will be for five years with a significant wage rise. Barça believe that the negotiations will not advance and that they will be able to do a deal for around 35 million euros next summer.

With all this in mind, Aleix Vidal is expected to be available on the market. The former Sevilla man has not featured since the 2-1 defeat to Alaves at the beginning of September.
