Andres Iniesta about to hit 700th game in all competitions
The Barcelona captain has played 699 matches, including friendlies for the club
He made his debut in a three-way tournament between Barca, Real Sociedad and Espanyol
Andres Iniesta could play his 700th Barcelona game on Wednesday including friendlies. The midfielder made his debut on June 4, 2001 in a homage to Urruti at the Mini Estadi, just after he turned 17. Then on Sunday when he came on against Granada it was his 699th appearance in all competitions. The first game he played was under the orders of Carles Rexach. It was a three way duel between Barcelona, RCD Espanyol and Real Sociedad to try and win the mini-tournament.

Iniesta’s side beat Espanyol 1-0 with a goal from Roberto Trashorras, the team was: Arnau; Óscar López (14. Dani Tortolero), Cuadrado, Fernando Navarro; Iniesta; De la Peña, Alfonso (22. Roberto Trashorras), Alberto; Sergio Santamaría, Rivaldo (24. Moisés) and Triguinho.
In the first game Barcelona drew 0-0 with La Real, with Iniesta as a substitute.
He is the second most capped Barcelona player behind Xavi Hernandez, who played 869 games (767 official ones).
