Renato Sanches breaks a Cristiano Ronaldo record

Renato Sanches has beaten a Cristiano Ronaldo record. The new Bayern Munich player is the yongest player to be called up to a Portugal squad for the final phase of a tournament in the country's history. 

He will arrive at the Euros at 18 years and 10 months old, younger than Cristiano when he played in 2004 at 19 years and four months. 

Renato Sanches was one of the stars of the season in Portugal with Benfica, who won their league for the third year running. 

He spent six months playing in the second division before moving to the first team and then starring in their top flight and the Champions League. Bayern pounced and signed him for 35 million plus 45m in variables.

Fernando Santos called up Renato to replace Atletico Madrid veteran Tiago, who has missed much of the second half of the season injured.
