Uruguay still hoping to have Suarez available at some point in Copa America

Luis Suarez can now play for Barcelona, as he has done since El Clasico last month, but he is still unable to play for Uruguay in competitive fixtures while he serves a nine-match ban.

It is a subject which worries both the player himself and the president of the Uruguayan FA, Wilma Valdez, who has visited Zurich to speak with FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Among other things, the pair spoke about the Suarez situation.

"The Suarez thing is polically complicated," Valdez explained to Sport 890 AM. "The idea is to speak with FIFA's legal advisers, but it is difficult to reverse.

He also commented that the reason for the trip to Switzerland was to "present before the president, Blatter, and to touch on four of five important points."

Whether Suarez was on of the those, he didn't divulge.

The Barcelona striker has now played several friendly matches for his country since the World Cup, with the most recent coming in front of his home fans against Costa Rica.

With the Copa America in Chile coming up in 2015, Uruguay are desperately hoping they can somehow reduce their star player's ban.
