Rinaldi: Neymar ignored my advice before red card antics in Chile

The Technical Director of the CBF, Gilmar Rinaldi, explained the conversation that he had with Neymar moments before the Blaugrana forward lost his temper with the referee during Brazil vs Colombia.

Nothing could calm Neymar down after the game against Colombia. The Brazilian, who received a second yellow card for kicking a ball at Armero, exploded in the tunnel, where he earned himself a four-game suspension which stretches through Copa America and into the Selecao's World Cup qualifying campaign.

However, things could have been different if the forward had thought about what his colleague had said moments before. "I told him, be careful, because you are responsible for your actions," Rinaldi explained to L'Equipe.

"What I said to the referee was fair, Neymar told me. And I said to him that it wasn't the right moment [to do it]. But everything is a learning experience. I took part in his nomination as captain and I wouldn't take it back. I have to help him become a great captain."

"Neymar is a natural leader but must adapt according to situations. The group were happy with his nomination [as captain]."
