Luis Suarez ban will not be shortened by FIFA

FIFA will not reduce Luis Suarez's ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup in 2014.

The striker is still banned for four matches after missing the Copa America, meaning he misses out on World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile.

After Uruguay asked for Suarez's case to be re-opened FIFA replied, with a spokesman saying: "As the decision in the relevant case was final and binding, FIFA was not in a position to enter into the merits of the recent request submitted by the Uruguayan FA and Luis Suarez."

Barcelona might not mind too much, with Suarez set to be able to rest during the international breaks.
