Edgar Davids begins internship with Twente

After triumphing as a defensive midfielder during his playing career, Edgar Davids is now dedicating his time to becoming a successful coach. For that to happen, though, the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) say he has to complete his badges while working as an intern at Twente.

Davids has already spent a year and a half as player-manager at Barnet, a team in the fourth division of English football. However, he has not completed all of his training and the KNVB are now demanding that he does that. As he has never liked the class room side of things, they have developed a program which is largely practical.

Although Davids is still forming as a manager, it seems likely his thoughts will follow on from the Louis van Gaal line of thinking. "Van Gaal is the best manager I've had, although I've learned a lot from a lot of people," the former Ajax, Juventus and Barcelona player, among others, said to Marca.
