Carles Puyol: "Living in the USA appeals to me and it is an option, let's see..."

Carlos Puyol, Barcelona's eternal captain, was missing from the press conference organised in Shanghai on Tuesday by the Laureus Foundation.

Instead, there were appearances from Fabio Capello, Ruud Gullit and Louis Saha.

Hours afterwards, Puyol took part in a small game with Chinese children, some of whom were dressed in Barcelona shirts with Ronaldinho's name on the back.

After the game, the 37-year-old, a Laureus ambassador, answered a few questions.

Asked about Barcelona's Champions League opponents Paris Saint-Germain, he said: "At this stage of the tournament all rivals are difficult and can make things difficult. But I have confidence in Barça."

He also spoke about knowing how difficult it is to defend against Lionel Messi "because he had to do it many times in training".

However, Puyol didn't give any clues on his immediate future: "What I'm most concerned about at the moment is recovering from my knee injury.

"It's only a few months since I couldn't even walk down the stairs, but now I am getting better. I don't know if I will be playing or managing [in the future].

"I don't want to close any doors. For the moment, what interests me most is running after my daughter, Manuela."

He has been linked with a move to the United States, and he did suggest it's something which appeals to him.

"To live in [the USA] is an experience which appeals to me and it is [an option], altough I've still not decided anything," Puyi explained.

"I am only thinking about Vanesa [his partner], my daughter and, of course, myself. Let's see [about the future]..."
