Blatter wants more video technology in football

Sepp Blatter said on Monday during a video message projected at the Soccerex event in Manchester that he is planning to implement new video technology at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand next year.

"We can try 'challenge calls'," he explained, in a move which would allow coaches to be able to question a referee's decision.

Blatter has already previously endorsed the use of video in football, suggesting at a FIFA congress in Sao Paulo before the World Cup this summer that football could copy the lead of other sports in this regard.

"Why can't we not give managers the chance to appeal two decisions in the case where the have another opinion?" the Swiss asked.

The head of FIFA was once opposed to any form of technology, but his stance on the subject has changed with time.

That was evident at this summer's World Cup in Brazil, with technology brought in to test whether or not the ball had crossed the goal line.

Blatter also took the chance to confirm that he would once again be running for FIFA presidency at the next elections.
