Nico Rosberg wins in Austria to close the gap on Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton

Nico Rosberg took a chunk out of Lewis Hamilton's lead at the top of the Formula 1 World Championship with a commanding drive in Austria. 

Rosberg passed his teammate at the very start of the Grand Prix and produced a controlled performance to lead home a Mercedes one-two. 

Felipe Massa completed the podium, while Spain's Fernando Alonso exited race on the very first lap following a heavy crash with Ferrar's Kimi Raikkonen which drew the safety car. 

The incident will be investigated by the race stewards.

Carlos Sainz also failed to finish the race and the only Spanish drive who did complete the 71 laps, Roberto Merhi, did so in last place.
