Federer's win over Murray was "one of the best" of his career

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer claimed his semi-final win over home favourite Andy Murray on Friday was "one of the best matches" of his career

The Swiss beat the Briton in three sets (7-5, 6-4, 6-4) to set up a final with Novak Djokovic on Sunday afternoon.

"I played really well from the start. I saved a break point in the first game and then my service game got going. I think it was one of the best games of my career," a delighted Federer said after securing the win.

"I enjoy playing a lot and I train hard to be be able to play in these type of games. It's a huge game, against Andy at Wimbelon, but it's only a semi-final. Now I have to work on the final to complete two marvellous weeks," he added.

The 14-time Grand Slam winner will take on Djokovic, who saw off the Frenchman Richard Gasquet in straight sets earlier in the day.

"It's great to play against Novak. He's a great tennis player and he's had a lot of success in his career, especially recently. He's become a tough rival, complicated to beat," Federer continued.

"I'm not thinking about the game last year, I'm just happy to be in another final. However, the fact it's against Novak, the world number one, makes it more special."
